Oh my God - too funny
.
Here's what Jets fans are living for right now:
- can Laine win the Richard ?
- can Laine reach 50 goals in his first season ?
- can Scheifs finish top 5 in points and gain the recognition he deserves ?
- can Ehlers finish top 25 in pts ?
Yup - that's where we're at
.
Here's hoping we can bamboozle the draft lottery once more ! |

For the rest of the season, I would like to see the Jets try the following forward lines.
Petan-Scheifele-Wheeler
Ehlers-Little-Laine
Dano-Perrault-Armia
Copp-Lowry-Matthias
They should also change up their power play units:
Unit 1
Laine-Scheifele-Wheeler
Ehlers-Byfuglien
Unit 2
Perrault-Little-Armia
Petan-Trouba
Just my thoughts... |

Meanwhile in Winnipeg, sports team does dumb social media idea & fans lower the bar further than anyone could have predicted #askajet

Glad to see Petan get some support. He must produce despite given few opportunities.
I see no reason why this team will be better next year with the same head coach. The players can't or won't play defence.
If Thorburn, Stewart and Pavelec remain next year then it's over before the season starts.
How hard can it be to understand that taking penalties is bad?
Major problem unique to the Jets. Few players want to live in Winnipeg.
An NHL goalie will be a first for this organization when one is signed.
Winning is the only thing that matters. |

Love that lineup. Maybe flip the wingers on the bottom 2 lines tho. Petan needs some love right now. |

While not related to the Petan article , I came across this article by Garret Hohl from JetsNation ( not related to my name BTW) . Excellent article with regards to which Jets are the keepers on this team. A few surprises in there . Postma in particular. Also for those of you who don't think Perreault is a valuable member of the team then you should think twice.

No, what do you see? - Peter.Tessier
he's pointing out the irresponsibility of the media in general
the jets media people gave the disgruntled a voice - then you had to make sure if it was heard the first time, it would make some more news the second.
What you should have done, is sorta like what MLB does when a naked fan runs on the field. Nothing. They don't show it, and barely acknowledge it.

so Postma is better than Morrisey and Perrault is better than Little ( by a lot!! ) sounds about right hey?
I like to use this new upcomming metric called the "eye test" it requires you to actually have to watch hockey though, i know that sounds out of this world for some of these metric folks but it's an absolute must.
when going with the new "eye test" i to found some interesting metrics. Perrault for example plays better when on the top two lines where he becomes completely invisible, almost like a magic trick when playing with lesser players on the bottom two lines. Can you believe it? or are you as shocked as me? also, the "Eye Test" shows how Perrault actaully has little to no finish, again, mind is blown!! I think us hockey fans may have to turn off the computers and start giving this "eye test" some serious considerations. |

4 right hand shots on unit 1? Don't think so |

The Capitals have 3 right side shots on their unit 1. Maurice has been using 4 left side shots on the power play. What's the difference?
Wheeler, Scheifele, and Ehlers can all create offence and all three can score as well. I think there is way too much made of what side players shoot the puck from. |

Couple a' problems with your assessment there, Ross.
1: the stats nerds you hate so much almost certainly watch more hockey than any of us, and the numbers generally match up with what happens on the ice... which leads me to point 2
2: you're precious "eye test" is completely subjective, and reliant entirely on your personal ability to evaluate the game. It's completely random. The numbers, however, never lie, and can't be swayed by personal opinion. |

First off, my assessment was comical
Secondly, so you are saying Perrault is better than little? Wow!!
Thirdly, I follow real stats, you know, goals, assists, points, not rick paper scissor stats.
Postma sucks!! And if you can't see that then you don't watch hockey. Perrault is over rated by jets fans and will not live up to his next deal. |

When you say the eye test is subjective,is that the same as postma only playing against other team's fourth line and only getting on the ice when the face off is in the offensive zone? Or is that somehow different. Do metrics measure that postma has never won a one on one battle in the corner or in front of net?
I read an a great article ( I will try and find it and post it ). It was from 2015, it was predicting which top ten players would have break out years Ailey based on metrics and anylitics. Out of the ten they listed, only one actually went on to have the break out year. I'll take my eye test over metrics anyday!!! |

At no point did I say Perreault was better than Little. But I absolutely believe that Perreault has performed better in his role than Little has this year. Little is the perfect 2C. Perreault can play anywhere, on any line, and with anyone and still be effective. I can't understand how Laine isn't on a line with those two as they are possession darlings whom can carry him when he's not scoring.
The stats actually do show Postma's success with defensive battles as he allows fewer shots on his net than anyone he's been partnered with, and by a substantial margin, implying that he has fewer battles as the puck is in his zone less often with him on the ice then with him off. If he lost that many battles, it would be reflected by an increase in scoring chances for the other team with him on the ice both in relation to the team, and to his partner. This evidence does not exist. In fact, the evidence shows the opposite happening. Again, saying you follow the "real stats" would show you that Postma has produced more than Stuart and Chairot combined, with fewer minutes, while being the only + player of the trio. He also has far fewer giveaways, meaning your assessment of Postma is incorrect by both your standard AND mine. |

Can't have it both ways.

No, Ross, that's not what that means. It means that in the role they play, they excel. It does not mean that Morrissey isn't as good as Postma. It means that Postma excels on the bottom pairing while Morrissey holds his own on the top pairing. |
